The OTOBA administers many incentive programs to reward owners' and breeders' of Thoroughbreds! Incentive programs include Owners' Bonus, Breeders' Award, and Purse Supplements. Every race meet the OTOBA allocates funding to increase purses for Oregon-breds. In 2007 an additional $500 was allocated to the Oregon-bred winner of an Oregon-bred restricted race. Restricted race means a race with only Oregon-breds racing, with no out of state horses. If Oregon-breds are runnig wtih out of state horses the race is refered to as an "open" race rather than a restricted race.
The OTOBA is currently working to put together an exciting purse supplement for the upcoming 2008-2009 live race meet. Our goal is to add a percentage to all Oregon-bred earnings during the live race meet at Portland Meadows. Our goal with this added money is to attrack more owners and breeders to not only breed Oregon-breds, but to remain racing in Oregon! |
