Owner/Trainer Incentive Program Details
The OTOBA administers many incentive programs to reward owners' and breeders' of Thoroughbreds!  Incentive programs include Owners' Bonus, Breeders' Award, and Purse Supplements.  Every race meet the OTOBA allocates funding to increase purses for Oregon-breds.  In 2009 an additional $500 is being allocated to the Oregon-bred winner of an Oregon-bred restricted race.

Restricted race means a race with only Oregon-breds racing, with no out of state horses.  If Oregon-breds are running with out of state horses the race is referred to as an "open" race rather than a restricted race. The OTOBA is currently working to put together an exciting purse supplement for the  live race meetat Portland Meadows.   Our goal is to add a percentage to all Oregon-bred earnings and use this added money is to attract more owners and breeders to not only breed Oregon-breds, but to remain racing in Oregon!

OWNERS' BONUS
In order to receive your Owners’ Bonus you will need to be sure that the OTOBA office has your correct contact information. Just because Portland Meadows or the Racing Commission has your information does not mean that we do.  Contact the OTOBA with your current information if you have not already!
Last year we paid out over $424,000 in owners' bonuses!  The owners’ bonus was approximately 30% of money earned and this percentage has stayed consistent over the past several years!
If you are not a current OTOBA member there will be a non-member fee deducted from your owners’ bonus of 5% up to maximum of $55.  It’s only $55 to join so it makes ‘cents’ to get more for your money, JOIN TODAY!

Please note that funds for payment of the owners’ bonus earned during the live Portland Meadows race meet will continue to accrue from all in-state wagers (simulcast or live) through June 30th.  Horsemen/women can expect to receive payment of owners’ bonuses in July.

It pays to be an OTOBA Member and to Own Oregon-breds!  If you are not a member, download our Membership Application and join today!
