Portland Meadows 2009-10 Season
Portland Meadows has released dates and received their racing license for their 2009-10 meeting that will begin on Monday October 5 and finish up on Saturday May 1, totaling 79 racing days. Racing will be conducted on a Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday schedule from October 5 through February 24. Live Racing will then shift to two days per week, racing Monday and Wednesday in March and April, and closing day will be a special Saturday program on Kentucky Derby Day, May 1. First Post each day will be at 12:45pm with the exception of the Saturday May 1 card, which will begin 11:05am.
On our 13th Day began with the running of the 2009 OTOBA Sales Stake. Ratio owned by Ashfault Farm took the win in this six furlong race under Troy Stillwell for trainer Rolland Feragson.
Lori Wigle's Freebie Fritz had second place honors with third going to Takethelastshot.

Oregon Summer Racing News and Results September 13, 2009 Live racing in Oregon had two choices for race fans this first weekend in June. Horseman and spectators alike enjoyed the warm weather and the reunion of friends and family.
The Eastern Oregon Livestock Show in Union hosted three days of live racing. Twenty-three races with handle of $50,836. Leading trainer for the meet was Bob Lawrence and leading jockey honors going to Nikeela Black! Congratulations to all for a fun and successful meet.

Grants Pass Downs The first weekend of the nine day race meet opened with live racing on Saturday June 13th. Unfortunately due to unsafe track conditions, live racing was canceled on Sunday June 14th. There will be an attempt to make up the lost races by adding extra races on the remaining scheduled race days. Leading trainer this year was Bob Beckner with 13 wins on 62 starts. Additionally, his horses had 13 places and 10 shows, also the most among trainers. Leading jockey honors went to Nikeela Black with 16 wins on 61 rides.
For the season, the total amount wagered was $404,501 for 84 races. The track's take is about 20 percent of the handle. The average handle per race was $4,815, down 2.7 percent compared to 2008.

The Tillamook County Fair
Considered one of the best county fairs in State of Oregon, the Tillamook County Fair kicks off in August each year. The Tillamook County Fair has Live horse racing & free grandstand shows featuring national talent. It's also the home of the World Famous Pig-N-Ford Races. Leading Trainer of the meet was Dennis Hurley - - Leading Jockey Joe Crispin. Total handle for the meet: $52,787.00

The Harney County Fair
Come to Burns to celebrate our last Summer Circuit Race meet!!
Join us for the fun and excitement of three days of live racing this year on September 11th, 12th and 13th. The sun was shining and the racing was wonderful for the Burns race meet and rodeo. Ty Garrett was named leading trainer while jockey Luis Torres took home the buckle for the leading jockey of the meet. See below for the results from Harney County.

NEW HIGH POINT TRAINER PROGRAM!! March 29, 2009
A new program to recognize the High Point Trainer or Oregon Bred horses was adopted by vote of the OTOBA Board of Directors at the March 29, 2009 meeting.
Conditions of this program are as follows:
1.Trainer must be a member of the OTOBA.
2.Only starts of Oregon Bred horses will be counted.
3.Points will be collected from January 1, 2009 to December 31, 2009 at all race meets in the state of Oregon.
4.Trainers will earn points on the following scale:
First place Oregon bred horse =
5 points
Second place Oregon bred horse =
4 points
Third place Oregon bred horse =
3 points
Fourth place Oregon bred horse =
2 points
Fifth place Oregon bred horse =
1 point
The points will be posted on a regular basis so that the trainers can see how they stand through out the year. The trainer accumulating the highest total points at the end of the year, will be recognized at the OTOBA annual banquet of Champions in 2010.
